America's tradition: The peaceful transfer of power

Peter Baker is the Chief White House Correspondent for The New York Times and a regular panelist on Washington Week on PBS. He is the author of seven books, most recently The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021, written with his wife, Susan Glasser, who also co-authored the bestselling The Man Who Ran Washington: The Life and Times of James A. Baker II and Kremlin Rising: Vladimir Putin’s Russia and the End of Revolution. Separately he is the author of Obama: The Call of History; Days of Fire: Bush and Cheney in the White House; The Breach: Inside the Impeachment and Trial of William Jefferson Clinton; and Impeachment: An American History with Jon Meacham, Timothy Naftali, and Jeffrey A. Engel.

Chris Liddell was assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for policy coordination during the Trump administration. Before that, he served as assistant to the president and director of strategic initiatives, overseeing the administration’s efforts to streamline the federal government’s regulatory process and modernize its technology systems. Liddell also served as vice chairman and chief financial officer at General Motors, where he led global finance operations and managed the company’s $23 billion IPO in November 2010, which, at that time, was the largest public offering in history. In 2012, Liddell was the executive director of the Romney presidential transition planning team. 

David Marchick is a prominent leader with decades of experience in global finance and public policy. He joined American University as dean of the Kogod School of Business in July 2022. He most recently served as chief operating officer and senior Biden appointee at the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). He previously spent 12 years as managing director at the Carlyle Group. He also served as director of the Center for Presidential Transition at the Partnership for Public Service, where he interviewed presidential transition experts for the podcast 'Transition Lab' and assisted on a nonpartisan basis with the 2020 presidential transition.

Kathryn Dunn Tenpas, a Miller Center practitioner senior fellow, is a nonresident senior fellow with Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution, senior research director for the White House Transition Project, a fellow with the Center for Presidential Transition at the Partnership for Public Service, and secretary of the Governance Institute. Tenpas is a scholar of the American presidency focusing on White House staffing, presidential transitions, and the intersection of politics and policy within the presidency (e.g., presidential reelection campaigns, trends in presidential travel, and polling).
