David Broder, a Pulitzer Prize winning author, gives a lecture on the 1996 election. He first begins his discussion with commentary on the low voter turnout, a phenomenon that he attributes to the growing negative campaigning. He then discusses various statistics on the 1996 presidential election and offers his opinions as to what they imply. During the questioning session Broder addresses the low voter turnout, vice presidential candidates, welfare reform, the role of foreign policy in the election, interest groups, and campaign finance reform.
